A Round Of Applause, Please

Form Fit Fashion by Jay Calderin Give it up for Jay Calderin for his debut book Form, Fit and Fashion landing on the LA Times "10 Gifts for a Fashion-Forward Bookworm". They call it a "new fashion bible" which is seriously the best compliment ever.

Jay is the founder of Boston Fashion Week, Director of Creative Marketing & Special Projects at School of Fashion Design on Newbury Street, as well as an instructor. You can purchase the book at Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble and Brookline Booksmith. Congratulations, Jay!

It's That Time Of Year Again

Boston Magazine Winter Fashion 2009 Check out our beloved Sam Mendoza in Boston Magazine's Winter Fashion roundup (styled by our lady love Callista Wilson). The dress was from the final look of his fall collection, aka "the bride" and looks stunning with a Mongolian lamb vest from Chanel.

A Boston Fav Hits Primetime

Camillajames on GGOur good friend Camilla Gallacher makes beautiful necklaces. You've seen her stuff in editorials, on runways and read about her style in local magazines. Perhaps you've been to her South End studio during Open Studios. Maybe you even own a piece from Looc or Stil. She's recently expanded her business, branching out to major NYC stores like Henri Bendel and Bergdorf Goodman while rebranding her company with a name change. What was known as Millie & Me is now Camillajames.

Even more exciting is seeing Camillajames' Cascade necklace (one of her most popular pieces) on Gossip Girl last night, worn by newbie Kira Abernathy (played by Sarah Steele). OK, I'll admit, I had to look up the character's name, but with the powerhouse fashion force that GG has become, along with all the excellent press camillajames has been getting lately (style mentions in People and Lucky to mention a few), it'll only be a short time until we're knocking down Target's doors for a collaboration piece from Camilla.

The Bold And Beautiful

Today's catch up on weekly press day around here because I'm queen of lameness. In this week's Stuff, while I'm off somewhere talking about how you should wear blazers, many lovely ladies who play a huge part in making Boston beautiful were getting honored. Big cheers to our girl Jen Opeka (left) from Sarra Studio for "Best Brows with a Side of Chatter" (she and Sarra owner Lauren Genatossio have both had their way with my brows before and they are the go-to for all things pluckable). A toast to the amazing Dani Wagener, who is by far every editor and designers dream make-up artist (I've worked with her at Stuff and for Sam Mendoza's shows). And a shout to our own Jeannie Vincent, who with Ulana Nosal, represented Fresh as the makeup category of the "Crap I Tried This At Home and Need it Fixed Quickly" award. Plenty of other wonderful, amazing, talented folks are spotlighted, so pick up a copy just about anywhere or go to stuffboston.com.

More Best Dressed

GlobebestdressedJust a few days behind on this, but worth checking out for sure. There's an endless supply of Best Dressed lists in this town, but the best photographed and most interesting to read is out this week thanks to the Boston Globe. We're huge fans of some on the list - our favorite milliner Marie Galvin (whom I owe a visit to next week), our blogger friend Martine and the hottest couple around the party scene, Karmaloop founder and creative director (respectively) Greg & Dina Selkoe. Also a big shout to the handsome Ricardo Rodriguez and costume designer Elena Sanders, who has a vaudeville act that I missed a few weeks back which I'm still kicking myself over. Keep your eyes peeled for her act, I hear it's a good one.

Swap Star

Clothes_swap_280Our buddy Punky is featured in the newest issue of Worcester Magazine with details about her latest swap. For those of you living westward or willing to take a ride for a fun time, Punky is hosting another of her infamous clothing swaps in Worcester this Saturday, May 30th from 11am to 4pm. Full details here

Wonder if Punky's newest venture, The Haberdash - a vintage streamline hitch trailer turned traveling vintage shop - will be making a special appearance (which she is seen standing in here). Well, no, since the grand opening is June 11th, but who knows... keep your eyes peeled.

Even Stuff Thinks You Should Come To The Liberty Tonight!

Probably doesn't hurt that I write for them, but Stuff Magazine gave us a big shout today, suggesting that tonight's party at The Liberty will be "well worth the Friday morning struggle to focus at work through a hangover or mild case of sleep deprivation". Come correct and see y'all later!

Swap Til You Drop On Chronicle

Picture 2A little late to the game here, but check out this clip that aired this past Monday on Chronicle featuring swap mistress Amy from PunkyStyle, co-hosted by the lovely Meghan and Melissa of Shoestring Magazine. These ladies are now collectively known as The Swapaholics. Also in this segment are Pam and Leila from Habit, showing a client how to shop her own closet. Something we all need to do these days.

Watch me in various states of undress while consistently carrying a glass of champagne, which is becoming more and more a regular accessory in my life. All in the background!!! It was a great time, I made a handful of new friends (hehe) and scored some great shirts while unloading a bunch of old unworn clothes.
