What's On Your Mind for 2009, Matthew Pidge?

Matthew Pidge Matthew Pidge, Camper:

*What Will Make Boston Tick- Job recovery
*Trends- Drop crotch pants, well, maybe not Boston in 09, but thats what I'll be wearing
*Styles- Return of the classics with a twist
*What I Want To See Happen- Hopefully everyone will feel more open to expressing themselves and stop wearing those North Face jackets and khakis

What's On Your Mind for 2009, Kristina Wong?

Dreamecho Kristina Wong, dreamecho:

"I would like to see a movement away from reliance on name brands, celebrity (from local to international) and superficially pretty outfits as a determinant of style. Instead, I'd love for people to develop their own standards and tastes, and I'm actually quite hopeful about the progress in fashion here. As I understand it, there was minimal interest in fashion here a decade ago. Now, it's big, but it's disappointingly always tied in to the glamour of nightlife and celebrity. Homogeneity is, however, perhaps something that a city needs to go through before it develops its own fashion identity and creativity. Fortunately, this year, local fashion blogs finally got the recognition they deserve. I think that's been an integral part of breaking down the stereotypes of style in Boston. These blogs come from people independent of the fashion industry, and are therefore not maintaining, whether consciously or not, the status quo.  Boston fashion blogs are waking people up -- they show that genuine innovation and personality are indeed possible here."

What's On Your Mind for 2009, Samantha Shih?

Picture 1 Samantha Shih, 9Tailors:

"People breaking away from belts with whales or dogs on it (at least I hope)."

What's On Your Mind for 2009, Jessica Sutton?

Jessica sutton Jessica Sutton, Graphic Designer:

"I think there's going to be a lot of muted/washed out color - dusty rose, tinted grays, etc... I feel like Boston is (finally) growing a fashion/design/art scene and since the people on the forefront are locals, I'm crossing my fingers for lots of parties this year!  Also, I think with this economy, there will be more of a focus on independent designers... so much so that my quasi-resolution is to try to buy all handmade in 2009 (with an exception for shoes, obvi)."

What's On Your Mind for 2009, Michael Tonello?

BHTB Michael Tonello, author, Bringing Home the Birkin:

"I predict a huge rise in luxury resale shops."

(ed. note: May we suggest The Closet on Newbury Street)

What's On Your Mind for 2009, Dani Wagener?

Dani working Dani Wagener, makeup artist:

"My hopes for 2009 is that the economy turns around, of course. My industry is pretty recession proof, thankfully I'm busier than ever, but I know so many people on the job hunt, and it's stressful! As far as trends and styles go, I'm not really a follow the trends type of person... once in awhile I get on board (flannel shirts in every color please!). But usually I'm bucking the system. What I would love to see is for someone to produce some kind of local mag that is actually worth picking up and reading for it's picks, products, and trends. I'm dying to see some fabulous makeup, color, drama, fashion, glamour and advice that is relatable, stunning, breathtaking. I'm so sick of the boring photo shoots and bad hair and makeup...!! I know Boston has more to offer...!"

What's On Your Mind for 2009, Adrienne?

ACworking Adrienne, women's buyer, The Achilles Project:

"I bet everyone is going to say this but I hope we have a huge turn around in the economy.

Personally, I'd like to get to travel a bit more- I have plans to go to Miami for a weekend.  My sister and I have always talked about going to Coachella- so maybe this is the year to do it.  My friend Kristy and I want to go to Europe for a bit.  I'd also like to spend more time on the Cape this summer.

My New Year's resolutions are to take less cabs and ride the T more and to take more photos.

I like to make them realistic, my 2006 resolution was not to smell something when someone says, "Smell this!  It smells so bad!" And my 2007 one was to become insanely good at the robot- I may not be insanely good, but I'm much better than I was in 06.

Predictions:  Obama fever reaches new heights when 9 months after the inauguration there is an influx of babies being born, proving that obama gets people so excited they get laid."
