Style Crush: Ross Bennett Hurwitz

This week, we're crushing on actor Ross Bennett Hurwitz. We caught up with him after the Elliot Norton Awards (they're Boston's version of the Tony Awards - Ross was nominated for Outstanding Actor in a small company for Bianca in Taming of the Shrew with Actors Shakespeare Project). Once again, my terrible photography skills strike again, but you can clearly see that Ross is the type of guy who knows how to pull off a polished look with no effort.

Here, he wears a Benetton dress shirt, Zara jacket, TopShop pants, J Crew bowtie and Kenneth Cole shoes. Get to know about Ross' style after the jump and check him out in The Amorous Quarrel at Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, MA (where he's also teaching the Riotus Youth program)...

Describe your style. Classic and easy... not to fussy, but always needs a little twist. Whether it's mixing patterns or colors. Friends often comment that I usually look like I'm about to get on a sailboat... it's not my goal but I go with it!

What are you into right now? BOW TIES! Bow ties are classic and fun! A man who wears a bow tie is confident and loves to make a statement! However, if you want to wear a bow tie, learn to tie one!! It's not that difficult if you take the time to learn. There are plenty of YouTube videos that show you a step-by-step. Pre-tied bow ties never look as good as a hand tied one. They're a little too perfect.

Where do you shop?  Working at J. Crew means that most of my wardrobe is from there, but I love vintage shops and small boutiques in places like the South End in Boston or the East Village in NY. They might be a little more expensive but I usually find very unique pieces, even belts or pocket squares, which can offset my wardrobe basics.

What's your inspiration when shopping on the cheap?  When money is tight I find that places like H&M and even Marshalls are great for basics like t-shirts and such, but if i really want to get my money's worth I think spending a little more on staple pieces is completely worth it. Spend the extra on quality items and a perfect fit so that the item will last for years. In the end it saves you money!

What are your "must" items when you go shopping? Fun socks! (not like Christmas reindeer socks) but something that will add a little punch to a wardrobe. Argyles, stripes.. etc. Just remember that there is a time and a place. These are not supposed to be the outfit, but compliment it.

Best deal? Gilt Man at gilt.com! Updated everyday with AMAZING DEALS on name brand and designer clothing and accessories! Even if I don't buy anything it's fun to browse and look at the incredible deals!
